AIDS Vaccine 2009
Words of Welcome
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The inaugural AIDS Vaccine Conference was held in Paris in 2000 with the aim of advancing the field of HIV vaccine research through discussion, exchange and learning. This annual meeting has since emerged as the leading forum for the exchange of scientific information relating to the difficult challenge of developing an effective vaccine against HIV.
Nine years since this first meeting, the French National Agency for Research on AIDS and Viral Hepatitis (ANRS) and the Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise are honoured and pleased to welcome you back to Paris for the AIDS Vaccine Conference 2009, which will be held at the Marriott Rive Gauche Conference Center on the 19th to the 22nd of October 2009.
We are acutely aware of the difficulties and obstacles which still remain in the path of HIV vaccine development. It is more evident than ever that a strong emphasis on basic research, within a creative and interdisciplinary context, is essential to find an effective vaccine to protect against HIV.
AIDS Vaccine 2009 will bring together both established and new young research scientists, with clinicians, epidemiologists and public health experts to create a dynamic and interactive environment with the aim of sharing experience and scientific advances and enhancing collaborations.
We look forward to welcoming you all to Paris for an intense, interactive and exciting exchange of innovative knowledge to strengthen the path towards the development of an HIV vaccine.
