Getting to the Conference
Air Travel to the Conference
Cape Town International Convention Centre is approximately a 20-minute drive from Cape Town International Airport (CPT). Both international and domestic flights fly into CPT on a daily basis. Some international carriers fly direct to Cape Town while others fly to Johannesburg (JNB) a connecting flight to Cape Town will be needed. Johannesburg is an hour and 50-minute flight from Cape Town.
Ground Transportation from Airport to Hotels
The AIDS Vaccine 2008 Conference Hosts are providing a discounted Airport Shuttle Service to and from the host hotels for Conference attendees. ATS Shuttle & Tours will have a booth in the arrivals hall of the Cape Town International Airport. AIDS Vaccine 2008 Conference signs will be prominently displayed at the booth, so they will be easy to find. The Airport Shuttle Service is offered at a discounted fee of R150.00 per person for a one-way ride.

Rental Cars
There are a number of rental car companies located in both the domestic and international terminals including; Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Imperial, National Alamo, Tempest and Dollar Thrifty.
Shuttle Services
Door-to-door shuttle buses are located outside both the International Arrival and Domestic Arrival terminals. Shuttle buses are available on demand. If you require an advance reservation, see the contact information listed below. Please note that some shuttle reservations are made by telephone only. A trip in a shuttle bus costs about R120 a person; any extra passenger from the same group pays only R30 more. See the names and contact information for shuttle services below.

Taxis
It is recommended that arriving passengers only use Touch Down Taxis, the officially authorized airport taxi company. The price for a taxi from the airport to the city is approximately R 250.00.
