International Scholarships

Researchers and clinicians from developing countries or other resource-limited settings are eligible to apply for scholarships that cover conference registration fees, airfare, and lodging at the conference hotel for attendance at AIDS Vaccine 2008. A $100 stipend will be available on-site from the conference registration desk for meals and ground transportation. Preference will be given to those with accepted abstracts, but this is not a requirement for the award. Notification of award will be made by email on June 20, 2008. Travel and lodging arrangements will be coordinated by the Conference.

A person may apply for either an International Scholarship or a Travel Award, but not both. At the selection committee's discretion, Travel Awards may be given for partial support in lieu of International Scholarships.

  • A Recommendation Letter verifying the applicant's eligibility and merit for an International Scholarship from the applicant's employer or from a collaborator. The letter should be written on institutional letterhead, be less than 250 words, and include contact information for the recommending party.

Travel Awards

A limited number of travel awards are available for those who do not qualify for International Scholarships, but who are working in the area of HIV vaccine research and have demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to those with accepted abstracts but this is not required. Travel Award winners will have their registration fee waived and their airfare paid for by the Conference.

If registration fees have been paid prior to notice of the Award, fees will be refunded.
