Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum
The dramatic styling on display at the Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum is worth the
3-mile distance from downtown. The star of the show is The Cyclorama of the Battle in Atlanta, a
breathtaking 15,030 sq. ft. panorama - the world's largest oil painting - that dutifully captures
the magnitude of war. It took nine artists approximately two years to complete, and the finished
product weighs more than 10,000 lbs.
Zoo Atlanta
Sharing the grounds of Grant Park with the Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum, Zoo Atlanta is a
convenient option. The zoo's most notably rare residents are a family of giant pandas, a famously
endangered species whose presence at the zoo has contributed significantly to the research and public
awareness necessary to keep giant panda populations thriving in the wild.
Fox Theater
Standing tall and shining bright some 80 years after its construction, the opulently mounted
historical monument Fox Theater is situated among the modern marvels in downtown Atlanta where it
was originally built as headquarters for the 5,000-member Shriners organization. Today, the
theater retains its grandiose charm while playing host to musical and variety acts from around
the world, combining modern entertainment with a living legacy of elaborate design.
Georgia Aquarium
The Georgia Aquarium is the largest in the world and the location of the 2010 Conference banquet. The
submarine domains are home to whales and sharks, but also to the Oceans Ballroom, an elegant,
intriguing space for the Conference banquet, with two huge viewing windows turning the evening into
an immersive Aquarium experience you will never forget.
Sweet Auburn Avenue
Andrew Young recalls his history and experiences on one of the most important streets in America. Auburn Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia has long been a key hub of
African American commerce, leadership and religion. The podcast, available for download, allows visitors to know the sites and hear the stories of the famous

Center for Civil & Human Rights
This facility gives visitors a place to learn about the past and engage in conversations about the future. The Center will be a portal for exploration and

for contemporary discussion on the link between Civil Rights lessons and Human Rights issues.

Atlanta History Center
Visit the Atlanta History Center, located on 33 acres in the heart of Buckhead.
The Atlanta History Center is a unique campus that houses the Atlanta History Museum, Centennial Olympic Games Museum, Swan House, Tullie Smith Farm, six historic gardens, and the Kenan Research Center. The Atlanta History Center also includes the Margaret Mitchell House, located off-site at the Midtown campus.
The Varsity
This is a cultural must do in Atlanta. It's the World's Largest Drive-in Restaurant. You haven't lived until you've had a frosted orange and, a
personal favorite, a grilled pimento cheese sandwich! The onion rings are famous as well. Be sure to have your Maalox handy!
High Museum of Art
The internationally renowned High Museum of Art in Midtown Atlanta continuously rotates a line-up of exciting exhibitions from cultures and artists all over
the world, keeping things fresh while maintaining a permanent collection of more than 11,000 works. The High Museum houses the nation's most comprehensive
collection of Civil Rights Era photography, which contributes greatly to nearly 4,000 prints from photographic masters of every genre and process on display
year round.
Swan House
For a glimpse at the luxurious lifestyles of Atlanta in the 1920s and 1930s, visit the classically styled Swan House designed by famed Atlanta architect
Philip Trammel Shutze. The Swan House has become one of Georgia's most recognized and photographed landmarks, offering visitors the opportunity to
explore the enormous interiors on a guided tour or at their own leisure. Swan House itself is rivaled in sheer physical beauty and ornate detail by the
lush, expansive garden and fountains that surround it.
The King Center
Established in 1968 by Coretta Scott King, The King Center is the official, living memorial dedicated to the advancement of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unique exhibits provide modern and creative context to Dr. King's life and teachings, including replica tours of his birth home and final resting place, and an on-site archive in the King Center library that utilizes diverse communications media to transcend its physical boundaries and educate people worldwide.
